Fifth Annual Biomedical Sciences Research Retreat

The Ramada Limited of Huntington served as the home for the Fifth Annual Biomedical Sciences Research Retreat held on Friday,Seminar Speaker:  Dr. Darrin DeMoss August 21st, 2009.  During the retreat, faculty and students socialized, new students were introduced to the research cluster faculty, and Marshall University’s Biomedical Sciences developments were celebrated by students, faculty, staff, and alumni.


After an enjoyable lunch, alumnus Dr. Darrin DeMoss spoke regarding, "Developing an Undergraduate Research Program at a Non-Doctoral Granting Institution".  Dr. DeMoss is a professor of biology at Morehead State University who is a successful alumnus of Marshall University’s Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program.  
We were honored to have him return!

Next, a Ph.D. a student from each research cluster (i.e. area of emphasis) presented a brief synopsis of his/her research.  Other BMS students also shared their research through posters to be viewed by all; it was energizing to see so many students dedicated to research.

Last, but certainly not least, Biomedical Sciences Awards were presented to conclude the entertaining day of retreat.
