Dr. Piyali Dasgupta, of Marshall University's Cancer Biology research cluster and the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Toxicology, has been selected to receive an ASPET(American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics)-Astellas Award in Translational Pharmacology for 2009. Three of these awards are given nationwide and out of three awards, at least one is given to a junior investigator. Dr. Dasgupta was the one junior investigator!The award will be presented at the ASPET Business Meeting and Awards Reception at Experimental Biology 2009 in New Orleans, LA, on Saturday, April 18, 2009. In addition to the exceptional prestige that accompanies this award, Dr. Dasgupta will receive $30,000 toward her research and an expense-free trip to receive her award. It is an honor to have Dr. Dasgupta conducting research as part of Marshall University's Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences graduate program.
